Bombardier Defense has delivered its ninth Bombardier Global aircraft to the United States Air Force (USAF). The handover took place earlier this month at Hanscom Air Force Base, reinforcing the long-standing partnership between Bombardier and the USAF.
Role in the BACN Program
The new aircraft joins the Air Force’s Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) fleet, designated as the E-11A.
Often called “Wi-Fi in the sky,” this platform is a vital communications gateway, providing secure interoperability and enhanced situational awareness for joint military operations.
Strategic Importance
For nearly 20 years, BACN-equipped Global aircraft have been essential to operations worldwide. Their missions bridge voice and tactical data between air and land forces, overcoming communication challenges posed by mountains, long distances, and harsh terrain.
This capability ensures seamless coordination during critical missions where communication is paramount.
Industry Perspective
Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President of Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense, highlighted the company’s pride in supporting the USAF.
He emphasized the trust and cooperation between Bombardier and the Air Force, noting the reliability and performance of the Global aircraft in demanding environments.
Continued Commitment
The delivery of the ninth aircraft underscores Bombardier Defense’s dedication to global security and its role in enabling mission success for the U.S. Air Force.
With proven reliability and high performance, the Global platform remains a cornerstone of the Air Force’s BACN program and a critical enabler of modern airpower.
